A cream two-storey condominium building with an open walkway along the upper floor, cars parked in front and palms beside it

Causeway Condos is a low building of sixteen two-bedroom apartments on the island side of the Jensen Beach causeway, with the beach across the road and the lagoon at the back door. Each apartment has a full kitchen, a living room with a sofa bed, two bathrooms, a washer and a balcony facing either the ocean side or the lagoon and the sunset. The pool sits between the two wings with the grills and the shade.

It is the family answer on the island: room to spread out, a kitchen for the week, the beach without a car and the causeway parks for the boat, the kayak or the bait. The building is managed by a couple on site, Nora and Dev Patel, who hand over the keys, the beach chairs and the list of what is open tonight.

Three nights is the minimum; weekly is the usual. The ocean-side balconies cost a little more and hear the surf; the lagoon side has the sunset and the quiet. The island’s beaches, the Elliott Museum and the Coastal Center are a few minutes south by car, and the village across the causeway has dinner and the Sunday market.
