Itinerary
Three days
A fishing weekend
Offshore for sailfish, inside for snook, the causeway at dusk and the fish dip test. November to March.
This is the weekend the coast is built for, and it only works from November to March, when the sailfish are on the edge and the fronts come through every week or so. The plan books the offshore half day for Saturday and keeps Sunday for the inlet, so that if the weather moves the charter, the light-tackle trip can take its place. Book the charter first and the room second.
The two charters here are fictional, like every business in this guide. A real one will run the weekend the same way, and will tell you the same thing about the front.
Day by day
Arrive, buy the licence and the bait, and fish the catwalks on the evening tide.
A half day on the edge with Reef and River, the afternoon off, dinner on the dock.
Light tackle in the inlet at first light, then home by lunch.
Good to know
- The charter’s licence covers you on the boat; the catwalks need your own, sold at the bait shop.
- Book the Saturday charter for the days after a forecast front, not the day of it.
- Every sailfish is released; take the photograph on the leader.
- Seasick tablets the night before, not at the dock.
- Weather calls come the evening before by text; the deposit comes back in full.
