Reef and River Charters

Captain Lena Marsh has run Reef and River out of Sailfish Marina for eleven seasons, and the boat does what the name says. From November to March the half days head out the inlet to the colour change a few miles off, where the sailfish ride the edge of the Gulf Stream; kites and live bait, every fish tagged and released, and most winter days see at least one. From April to October the boat stays inside for snook along the mangroves, tarpon in the inlet at dawn and whatever the river is giving.
The boat is a 34-foot center console with a head, shade and room for four anglers without anyone’s elbows meeting. Bait, tackle, ice and the licence are included; bring sunscreen, a hat, lunch and whatever you want to drink. Children are welcome on the river trips and the captain will slow everything down for a first-timer.
If the inlet is unsafe the trip moves inside or to another day, the captain’s call and no charge for the change. The deposit is a third of the fare and comes back in full for weather.
