Itinerary
Two days
48 hours in Stuart
A weekend that never needs the highway: downtown, the river, the island and back, with dinner on a dock both nights.
Stuart is small enough to do on foot and close enough to the island to do the beach and the museums in a morning. This plan assumes you arrive on Friday evening, sleep two nights downtown and leave after lunch on Sunday. Swap the days freely; the only fixed point is the tide at Bathtub Reef, which decides whether the beach goes in the morning or the afternoon.
Day by day
Check in, walk the Riverwalk before dark and eat on the dock.
Coffee, then over the bridge for the beach and the museums, and back for the sunset cruise.
The bookshop, the galleries, the heritage museum and a last look at the river.
Good to know
- Downtown parking is free; leave the car at the inn and walk.
- The Saturday beach morning depends on the tide; if low tide is late, swap the museums to the morning.
- Winter weekends need the inn and the dinner booked weeks ahead.
- The sunset cruise sails Thursday to Sunday in season and the time moves with the sun.
- Sunday concerts at the stage run in season only; check the events page.
